Hockey season is fast approaching so I thought I’d weigh in on the most significant development of the off-season – the new uniforms (yes I know I’m shallow). The Tampa Bay Lightning have done the best of the teams I’ve seen so far. The logo looks a lot cleaner and less wordy and I’m assuming that they got rid of that ridiculous lightning bolt on the side of their pants. Seeing these jerseys brings back painful memories of 2004 but I have to give credit where it’s due. I guess.

The Nashville Predators have also significantly upgraded (in my opinion). Maybe a sleeker look will help ease the pain of losing Forsberg and Vokoun. Then again it is Nashville; they could have the best looking duds in the league and only 6000 fans would see it.

The Washington Capitals have gone with a retro look (sort of) and while I’m not totally sold on these, they are way better than what they were wearing last year. If you’re going to be an awful team you may as well look good.

Finally, in the ‘What Were They Thinking?’ category we have the New York Islanders. I have no idea who’s in charge of their marketing strategy (Mike Milbury maybe?) but whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired. Poor Rick Dipietro. At least he has another 30 years on his contract so he’ll get to see another 28 uniform changes. Hey Isles! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!

The new Flames jerseys come out next week. Here’s hoping Mike Keenan doesn’t figure out a way to mess it up.
Did you see the Vancouver Jerseys? Gross!!! And they put VANCOUVER over the logo…ohhhh so their Vancouver! How redundant man they just look awful they should have just took the 3rd jersey from last year and made it, it! sigh…ugly jerseys from Vancouver….
