Some were wondering, based on ‘The Challenge of Pluralism,’ about the implications of my views for Christian political engagement. The idea of Christianity being a ‘comprehensive world view’ could certainly lead into a theocratic political theory but that is not my intent. My goal was simply to challenge Christians to consider whether or not their entire lives were informed by what they believed. It seems to me that God calls us to nothing less.
I’ll include an article that Ryan sent regarding the question of Christian political engagement. ‘Christ Among the Partisans’ seems like a good approach to this question because it doesn’t say that Christian belief has nothing to say to political questions (the default assumption of secular pluralism) but rather that political realities make it impossible to deal adequately with the motivation behind Jesus’ ethical commands.
